10 Years: Time in Faces

About exhibition

The exhibition presents works by contemporary artists whose exhibitions were once held at the gallery, as well as works by Dashi Namdakov, Alexandra Dugarova, Vitaly Smagin, Zorikto Dorzhiev and other recognized artists from Irkutsk Oblast, Buryatia and Yakutia. Most of the exhibits are from the gallery's own collection. The project is dedicated to people — therefore the exhibition is centered on portraits. In them the artists sought to capture not only appearance but also the spirit of the times — to convey character, mood and a worldview. Through the portrait works it is easy to trace the connection between the artist, the era and the history of the gallery itself. The exhibition is complemented by an audio guide — from it you can learn interesting facts about the people in the portraits and their role in the gallery's history.
