V. B. Koretsky. Poster "Courage Takes Cities!"
Viktor Koretsky's poster came out in 1943. It shows a smiling young soldier in a forage cap with a rifle over his shoulder and an elderly bearded man in a cap and glasses, who touches a medal on the soldier's chest. In the distance, above the houses, is a red flag. At the bottom, in large red letters, is the title: "Courage takes cities!"
Viktor Borisovich Koretsky (1909–1998) was born in Kyiv. His creative method combined photographs taken from life with drawing in pencil and gouache, and the image on this sheet also looks photographic. Koretsky was the author of the poster "Soldier of the Red Army, save us!" (1942); in 1946, together with other artists, he received the Stalin Prize for a series of wartime posters.
The poster was issued by the Iskusstvo publishing house and letterpress printed on paper. It measures 298 × 390 mm.
